Luxemburgo´s men once again demonstrated that they were on the right track. Their 2-0 victory against Galaxy of Los Ángeles brought to an end their triumphant visit to the United States. Owen, and once again Soldado took charge of putting in the goals, and Guti and Zidane of the play. The is now moving to China with a unique intention of increasing their number of victories.
With the entrance of Raúl for Ronaldo and Guti for Pablo García, Real Madrid presented their credentials in a full Home Depot Center Stadium in Los Ángeles. They were awaited by a full house and the public will even seated in a grassed zone at one end.
With a typically American presentation with lots of music and spectacular videos the first whistle blew. The Americans began with a strong pace encouraged by their fans and by the 11 White players which they had facing them. This initial enthusiasm pushed the number 17, Pando Ramírez, to make two ugly attacks, which cost him the first yellow card of the match. Owen shows the way
The first White goal came very early (fifth minute) thanks mostly to a direct play and a great shot, looking more like a training session than a football match. So, in the play started off by Guti, the ball was controlled by Zidane, who in his first touch knocked it to the side of the goal for Owen, who didn't miss the occasion to hit it underneath the goalkeeper Hartman. Real Madrid started to open up their game and apart from isolated actions such as one by Cobi Jones, the control of the game was total for Luxemburgo´s men.
Spectacular football In the 12th minute there was a play which clarified everything which was happening on the pitch. The Whites were knocking the ball to each other during at least two minutes to finish with a clear chance wasted by Beckham. The fans who were filling the stands of the Home Depot Center could only give in to the supremacy of the Spanish team with much applause and continuous exclamations of amazement.
The game that went through the 10 minutes on equality until the 30 minute point. It was then that Real Madrid had bought consecutive chances of goals in three minutes with Roberto Carlos, Pavón, Zidane and Guti in the starring roles. The last two were the best of the first half. And it's when you these two players feel comfortable on the pitch that offensive fluidity is assured.
When play recommenced, Galaxy came out with a lot of enthusiasm, which translated into two goal opportunities, one in a shot by Gómez from outside the area which went out brushing the post, and another stopped by Casillas in a spectacular save from a direct free kick. But the initial impetus of the locals thinned little by little. Madrid once again took control of the match, imposing their qualities.
A masterful Guti After a clear opportunity for Pavón, who didn't take advantage of a rebound from the goalkeeper, Guti appeared once again, for the umpteenth in the game. A sensational pass from him left Figo alone in front of the goalkeeper, but the Portuguese player was not accurate. The number 14 Madrid player had been inspired during all of the match, something which is always pleasing for fans of good football.
Once again Soldado
The carousel of substitutions typical of this
type of match saw the entrance of the junior team players De la Red, Jurado and
Soldado. The latter, goalscorer in Chicago, once again did his thing, this time
in Los Ángeles, with a rapid shot from the edge of the area which overcame
Hartman.
There wasn't time for much more except an opportunity for Raúl Bravo. Real Madrid left American soil with two victories and some good football, and with a sweet taste in their mouths for their return in the next preseason.
